Oscars 2017 Prediction Game

Oscars Competition

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their nominations for Oscars 2017. So why don’t we play a little game with the nominations.

I have chosen 10 Oscar categories to make our guesses. In order to make a guess use this set up:

Category

Will win – Choice

Secondary – Choice

Want to win – Choice

Here is what each guess means:

Will win – The film/actor you think the Academy will choose to win.

Secondary – A second guess in case your first is incorrect.

Want to win – Who you wish would win. This CAN be the same as “Will win” or “Secondary.”

Points:

Will win – 3 points

Secondary – 2 points

Want to win – 1 point

“Want to win” is used kind of as a wildcard to help create a wider variation of point values. Since the “Want to win” could be the same as “Will win” or “Secondary” you can potentially get 4 points instead of only 3. Thus the maximum number of points you can achieve is 40. However, keep in mind that by always choosing your “Want to win” as your “Will win” may decrease your chance of hitting a higher score. So use it only if you are absolutely sure.

How to Enter:

Simply comment on this post or send an email to ian.hornbaker@movie-blogger.com with the format listed above.

Last day for submission will be Feb 26th at 7pm EST when the Academy Awards begin.

Prize:

There’s no official prize at this time. HOWEVER, if I get at least 20 submission a prize will be decided upon and sent to the winner. So why not give it a shot and see if you win. (The prize will be awarded only within the contiguous United States, have a value of $20 or less, and winner must be 18 years-old or older)

Good Luck!

Sometimes a film, no matter how much love is involved, fails to meet expectations. That’s where I jump in and break down “The Good,” “The Ehh” and “The Ugh-ly.” My purpose is to try to determine how the film succeeded and how it could have been better. I believe that this process can elevate the film industry and make the film going experience better for all.
