Screw the Pooch is the story of Kay. When Kay’s mother dies, Death sticks around for some unfinished business, and the two become unlikely roommates.
‘Screw the Pooch’ is the new tragi-comedy short from Brandis Productions. Written and directed by Amy Brandis, the film explores the complicated experience of grief, and the strange role death plays in our lives.
The film was funded using Kickstarter raising a total of £1,761, which was more than what they needed to cover the £1,750 costs for a 3 day shoot in Oxfordshire. The fundes went straight into the production budget, paying for talent, safety equipment including masks, props, costume and rental of heavy equipment and sound equipment.
The film has been doing very well on the festival circuit. Already getting official selection at the London Independent Film Festival 2021, Lift-Off Global Network Sessions 2021 and the KaliKari Film Festival 2021. Also receiving honorable Mention at the London Independent Monthly Film Festival 2021 and the UK Seasonal Short Film Festival 2021, and being a Semi-Finalist at the Gold Movie Awards.
