Stronger by Stress (2022) Film Review
Andzei Matsukevits’ Stronger by Stress is a documentary that recollects many of the trends, messages and practices you may come across in the media today. I can guarantee that many of the points explained in the film, you have already researched at some point. A common ground for all those “myths” could seem like another piece of tricky information that promises to change your life if you only apply what someone else promotes as the definite truth. It’s possible that some viewers will even stop watching the film after its first 5 minutes.
But what I found interesting in Stronger by Stress is that it doesn’t position itself as a bible of some sort. It even disclaims a message at first that you should never do anything different without consulting with a specialist. Imagine if every social media post contained this. Imagine if every influencer released their responsibility over the message they claim.
Stronger by Stress is a document that will maybe drive you to doubt everything you know about your own body without confirming it holds the absolute truth about it. Up until now science has held the final truth about everything that goes on inside you. So, what if science can go further? And what if some people out there have the ability to explore the seldom recognized relationship between mind and body?
In Stronger by Stress, a group of “specialists” explain their arguments about the controversial subject of biohacking, the art of enhancing yourself by applying a series of techniques. Losing stress, assessing your body with complete mindfulness, and actually improving performance. Yes, it sounds a bit holistic and fictional, but every medical breakthrough started with someone asking too many questions.
The experience that is Stronger by Stress is absolutely personal in regards to results. You will probably decide to change a few things because you believed in what these guys said. But ask yourself if you just needed to recognize a signal you’ve been putting away for so long. There aren’t any secrets you haven’t heard before in Stronger by Stress. So, why do we keep searching for something out there? What are we trying to find? What if Stronger by Stress is more than just a poignant message about something that is possible? Every single one of us knows we need to start changing some things if we want to see results. A film shouldn’t make you change, but it could make you think of the bigger picture, the one beyond what you experiment every day.
Again, Stronger by Stress doesn’t claim to hold the truth about anything. Its director edits together some testimonies to make a point about something very important: the need to look inside and get rid of something as toxic and everlasting as stress. It’s practically the only reason we need to start searching for some method. If a film can help me do that, then I will see the hell out of it.
Yes, adapting to a new lifestyle requires sacrifice. But Stronger by Stress makes it sound interesting to do so. Also, it seems relatively easy to improve your life. Unless you are set out to be skeptic. In that case, Stronger by Stress will probably feel like a funny science fiction film.
